Our procedures, including steroid and anaesthetic injections, aim to reduce pain and inflammation, providing relief for a variety of conditions. These treatments are performed with precision using advanced CT or ultrasound guidance. Each procedure is handled by highly experienced radiologists, supported by skilled technicians, ensuring the best care for our patients.

We offer a range of pain management services, including injections for conditions like bursitis, tendinopathy, fluid aspiration, and spine-related issues such as nerve root, facet joint, and epidural injections. All treatments are image-guided to maximise accuracy and patient comfort.

FAQ

Yes, an appointment is required for all interventional procedures. Please contact us via phone, in person, or by submitting your referral to book the next available time. A diagnostic scan of the targeted area is usually required prior to the procedure.

Specific preparation instructions will be given during booking. Patients are advised to:

  • Wear a comfortable two-piece outfit.
  • Bring along any relevant prior imaging and reports.
  • Arrange transportation home, if possible, as you may not feel comfortable driving immediately after the procedure.

Please bring:

  • Your referral form.
  • Any relevant prior reports and images.
  • Your Medicare or DVA card.
    For work-related injuries, WorkCover claim details may also be required.
You’ll be guided to the examination room by a team member, where the radiologist will explain the procedure. Using advanced imaging equipment, the radiologist will administer the injection with precision. The procedure is minimally invasive and typically brief. Following the procedure, a report will be prepared for your referring doctor.

At Dr Glenn & Partners, we bulk bill most Medicare-eligible services. Some procedures may incur fees, which will be explained during booking.

The anaesthetic provides immediate relief, lasting between 3 to 12 hours. The steroid component may take 2 days to 2 weeks to achieve its full effect. While initial relief may fade temporarily as the anaesthetic wears off, inflammation reduction and longer-term relief typically follow.
The injection itself is quick, often less than a minute. CT-guided procedures may take 5–10 minutes. Additional time is provided to explain the process and answer any questions.

We provide several types of injections, including:

Most patients feel minimal discomfort. A slight sting or pressure from the anaesthetic is common. Some may experience brief pain or pressure when the needle approaches the nerve; this sensation subsides quickly.

Feeling nervous is entirely normal. Our radiologist will explain the procedure in detail and answer any concerns you have. You are welcome to delay or decline the procedure if you’re uncomfortable.
